The Hazard Lady Bulldogs hosted the Riverside Lady Rams in the quarterfinals of the 14th region All “A” tournament. The Lady Bulldogs had little trouble disposing of the Lady Rams as they squashed their opponent 88-36.
The first couple of minutes of the ball game were tight, with Riverside getting the first basket and staying within a basket. Hazard eventually broke the game open with their press as their size and speed rendered the Lady Rams helpless. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Bulldogs had a commanding lead at 24-6.
Hazard began to substitute heavily in the second quarter, and Riverside was able to put some points on the board. However, the Lady Bulldogs were able to post enough points in the half to secure the victory. Hazard went into the half with a 46-23 lead.
Hazard went mostly with their bench in the second half, and with the win in the bag, few offensive sets saw a second time through. The Lady Bulldogs continued to rack up the points, while the Lady Rams, due to their small numbers, ran out of steam. Hazard went on to the 88-36 win.
Arielle Engle led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring with 17 points on the night (15 in the first half).
