The Hazard Lady Bulldogs put together a good run through the softball All “A”, but came up short of a title as they fell 2-1 to Jackson City. However, the Lady Bulldogs did notch a pair of wins in the tournament, defeating Owsley County 18-0 and Lee County 3-1.
In their first game, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Owsley County where they took on the Lady Owls. The Lady Bulldogs needed but three innings to chalk up the win. Hazard started the game slowly, scoring but three runs in the first inning.
Hazard caught fire in the second inning, pushing 10 runs across the plate in the frame. They added another eight runs in the third inning, bringing their total to 18. The 18-0 score evoked the mercy ruling, putting the Lady Bulldogs in the second round of the tournament.
Hazard stats: Allie Noble: 2 runs, Jauna Noble: 3 hits, 4 runs and 1 RBI, Brittani Slone: 3 hits, 3 runs and 3 RBI, Ashley Keith: 1 hit and 1 run, Jessica Feltner: 1 run, Whitney Whitson: 2 hits and 2 runs, Leslie Walker: 2 hits, 2 runs and 1 R BI, Maggie Francis: 1 hit, 2 runs and 2 RBI, and Meghan Hackney: 1 run.
In their second round game, the Lady Bulldogs took on a tough Lee County Lady Bobcat team. Neither team put up a large number of runs, as defense and pitching dominated the day. Hazard was able to push a couple of runs across the plate late in the game to grab the 3-1 win.
Hazard scored first, putting a runner across the plate in the bottom of the first inning. Jauna Noble reached base on an error, and moved to third on a Brittani Slone single. Noble then came in on a pass ball (1-0).
The game remained at 1-0 until the sixth inning when the Lady Bobcats picked up a run to tie the game at one. The Lady Bulldogs answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to take the 3-1 lead.
Brittani Slone started the inning with a double. Slone was almost picked off trying to stretch the hit into a triple, but was able to slide back into second safely. She then moved closer to the plate by stealing third on the pitcher.
Leslie Walker picked up Slone, and the RBI, with a single. Walker brought the score to 3-1 when she came home on a Maggie Francis single. The score would hold (3-1), advancing Hazard to the semifinals.

Hazard traveled to Jackson City for the semifinals, taking on a defensive minded Lady Tigers team. The Lady Bulldogs were able to plate but one run in the game, allowing the Lady Tigers to edge them from the tournament 2-1.
