The A. B. Combs Lady Bearcats played host to the Buckhorn Lady Wildcats early last week. The Lady Bearcats had little trouble disposing of the Lady Wildcats as they used a swarming defense to control the tempo of the game.
A. B. Combs took the early lead, outscoring Buckhorn 10-3 in the first period. The Lady Bearcats went deep into their bench for the second period, but continued to keep the pressure high. Going into the locker room, A. B. Combs was still in charge of the contest 16-3.
The Lady Bearcats broke the game open in the third quarter, holding the Lady Wildcats without a field goal for the second straight period. A. B. Combs held a 34-4 advantage going into the final period.
The Lady Bearcats went into cruise control for the final six minutes, and eventually came away with a 36-11 win. Whitney Back led the way for the Lady Bearcats with 17 points, while Monica Colwell led the Lady Wildcats with 7.
