Emma Gross Adams, the widow of Watson Adams, passed away on Friday, May 18 at the age of 97 years, 3 months and 4 days at the time of her death. Born February 14, 1910, in Avawam, she was the daughter of Laura Muriel and George Gross. A lifelong resident of Perry County, Mrs. Adams was a retired merchant. She also enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening. She and her late husband also built tall case clocks as well as kitchen and household furniture. Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three sons, Victor Lee, J.D. and Benny Adams as well as one grandson, Daniel Joseph Snell, a son-in-law, Clarence M. Kilburn, Jr., two sisters, Ellen Shepherd and Mamie Miniard and a half-brother, Eli Combs.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her son, Bentley Adams and his wife, Marlene of Floyds Knob, Indiana, two daughters, Anna Mae Kilburn of Delphia and Mamie Lavonna Snell and husband David of Paris, Kentucky. She is also survived by three daughters-in-law, Linda Adams of Delphia, Jane Adams of Safety Harbour, Florida, and Joann Adams of Roseville, Michigan. Along with her 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends, Mrs. Adams is survived by her sister, Hannah Halcomb of Hazard.
Visitation for family and friends was held on Sunday evening, May 20th at The Hurricane Gap Old Regular Baptist Church at Gordon where the funeral services were conduction on Monday morning at 11:00 am with Jimmy Bailey officiating. The burial was held at the Whitaker-Gross Cemetery at Delphia.

Lavonnia Halcomb
Lavonnia “Bonnie” Halcomb of Cumberland passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, May 16, at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Hospital. A native of Delphia, Kentucky, she had made her home in the Tri City area of Harlan County for the past 25 years. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Cumberland.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Halcomb, Sr.
She is survived by her mother, Clara Shepherd Halcomb of Delphia as well as by her daughter, Pagetta Halcomb Stamper and her husband Gregory and their children Samantha Layne and Makayla Marie Stamper, all of Hallie, her two brothers, Lester Halcomb, Jr. of Cumberland and Randall Halcomb of Indiana, her four sisters, Verda Halcomb of Delphia, Lisa Adams of Viper, Sheila Clark and Geraldine Franklin, both of Cumberland as well as a host of other family and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday evening at the Big Leatherwood First Baptist Church in Delphia where the funeral service was conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 19, with the Rev. Roger Colinger and Pastor Eddie Williams officiating. Interment followed at the Whispering Pines Cemetery in Delphia. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Eliza Brewer
Eliza Spencer Brewer, the widow of Chester A. Brewer, died on Monday, May 14 at the Hazard A.R.H. Hospital. At the time of her, Mrs. Brewer was 85 years of age. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Gwinn and Frank Spencer.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by her daughter, Susie Woods of Hazard and her two sons, Chester Joe of Hazard and H.B. Brewer of Jeff. She is also survived by her brother, Henry Davidson of Ohio as well as her seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Brewer’s family received friends on Wednesday evening at the Maggard Brothers Funeral Home where the funeral service was conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 17, with the Rev. Steve Haddix officiating. Interment followed at the Riverside Cemetery.

Leslie Campbell
Krypton native Leslie Campbell, who was born on August 9, 1933, died on Thursday, May 10. The life long resident of Perry County was the son of the late Crit and Lillie Campbell. The retired Federal Government employee had served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Campbell, a member of the Krypton Brethren Church is survived by his widow, Mallie of Krypton. Other survivors are two sons, Leslie Daivd of Norfork, England and Everett of Indiana and one step son, Phillip Beckham of Norfork, England. He is also survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Wooton of Krypton, Verna Fugate of Grapevine and Margaret Mull of Georgia, and his siblings, Denver Campbell of Ohio, Cornel Stacy of North Carolina and Janet Maggard of Krypton. Mr. Campbell was grandfather to 22 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 14 great-grandchildren. He leaves a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at noon on Sunday, May 13 at the Krypton Brethren Church with the Rev. Jim Sluss officiating. The burial was held at the Campbell Neace Family Cemetery at Kryton with full military honors performed by the Perry County DAV, Chapter #64.

Eartha Hall
Mrs. Eartha Campbell Hall, who was born on July 13, 1923, passed away on Thursday, May 10. A native of Viper, she was the daughter of the late Lizzie Woods and Green Campbell. Mrs. Hall, who had resided in Perry County her last thirty years was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and gardening. She was a member of the Calvery Bible Church at Viper.
The widow of Fred Hall, Mrs. Hall was also preceded in death by a son, Frank as well as a granddaughter, Elizabeth Hall.
She is survived by her son, Roger Dale and his wife Paula Hall of Pontotoe, Mississippi, and her two daughters, Carolyn Faye Hall and husband Herman and Peggy Delynn Hall, all of Viper. She is also survived by her three borthers and one sister, Lee Norris Campbell of Arvaril, Pennsylvania, Dexter and Wade Campbell and Elevrine “Bug” Campbell all of Viper. Mrs. Campbell was the grandmother to 9 grandchildren and the great-grandmother to 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Hall’s funeral service was conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, May 14, at the Calvary Bible Church with Pastor Ron Johnson and Mike Hall officiating. The burial was held at the Ben Cornett Cemetery at Viper. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the FCWM Fund in care of Calvary Bible Church, P O Box 1333, Viper, Kentucky 41774.

Pauline Bush
Pauline Bush, a native of Barwick, died on Saturday, May 12, being 73 years of age at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Mae Estes and Price Bush. The life long resident of Perry County was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, cooking and the companionship of her dog.
Survivors include her husband, Dillard Collins and Barwick and her siblings, Charlie and Donnie Ray Bush, also of Barwick, Paul of Gays Creek and Dan Bush of Scottsburg, Indiana, as well as Faye Mullins of Chavies. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Pauline Bush were conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 14 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home with the Rev. Taylor Neace officiating. The burial was held at the Bush Family Cemetery at Barwick.

Clyde Stacy
Cornettsville native Clyde Stacy, who was born on December 8, 1918, passed away on Tuesday, May 12. A retired coal miner, Mr. Stacy was a U.S. Army veteran, having served his country in World War II. He was a member of the D.A.V., Hazard Chapter #64.
The life long Perry County resident was the son of the late Eliiannon and Georgia Stacy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Deaton Stacy, his daughter in-law, Alice Stacy and his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his two sons, Gary and wife Linda of Hazard and Danny Paul Stacy of Erlanger. He was the grandfather to Lindsey, Scott, Danny and Randy and the great-grandfather of Dylan Joseph. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Clyde Stacy were conducted at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 15, at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home. Rev. Ronald Davidson officiated at the service. Burial took place at the Resthaven Cemetery at Jeff where full military honors were performed by the D.A.V., Perry County Chapter #64.

Eugene Hoskins
Eugene Hoskins, the husband of Geraldine Stidham Hoskins passed away on Saturday, May 12, being 77 years of age at the time of his death. The Hazard native was the son of the late Dosia Mae Lewis and Tom Hoskins. A life long resident of Perry County, Mr. Hoskins was a retired coal miner. He was affiliated with the Pentecostal Church. Along with his parents, he as preceded in death by his brother, George Ambrose and two sisters, Eureka Hoskins Caudill and Bertha Mae Bowling.
Other than his wife, he survived his children, Douglas Gene, Harold Gene and Jimmy Hoskins, Branda Couch and Linda Abner, all of Yerkes, five brothers, Johnny Ambrose of Hardburley and Adrian, Nelson, Teddy and Bobby Ambrose, all of Yerkes and three sisters, Shirley Feltner of Hardburley, Lucinda Jones and Carolyn Ann Bunnage, both of Illinois. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Eugene Hoskins were conducted on Tuesday, May 15 at the Hickory Gap Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Johnny Ambrose officiating. The burial took place at the Scalem Cemetery at Yerkes where full military honrs were performed by the D.A.V., Perry County Chapter #64.

Bulah Meek
Bulah Arvena Meek, who was born on March 24, 1914, at Union City, Tennessee, died on Sunday, May 13, at the Hazard Nursing Home. At the time of her death, she was 93 years, 1 month and 19 days old. A member of the Victory Assembly of God, she had been a Minister for the Lord for over 60 years.
The daughter of the late Sylvester Lee and Clara Ann Blalock, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James A. Meek and one son, Bill Meek, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary and husband Leon Eversole of Couchtown as well as her four grandchildren, Bill Meek, Jr., Ralph and Ronnie Eversole and Marlina Neace and her husband Jimmy and eight great-grandchildren, Bill Meek III, Heather Gibson, Rhonda and Melissa Meek, Audrey and Brittany Neace and Whitney and Megan Eversole. She is also survived by her two great-great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Martin Gibson.
Mrs. Meek’s funeral service was conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 16 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home. Officiating ministers were Rev. Gene Hamon, Rev. Bill Meek, Jr. and Rev. Carl Wayne Johnson. The burial was held at the Hickory Gap Cemetery at Yerkes.

Jessie Collins
Jessie Collins, was born on July 21, 1946, in Hazard passed away on Sunday, May 13, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville. At the time of his death, he was 60 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Nancy Ann Couch Collins as well as his sister, Oma Scott.
His survivors include his two sons, Jessie, Jr. and Gary, both residents of Tennessee, his daughter, Lisa and husband Wayne Delph of London and his siblings, Lee Collins, Pearlie Collins and Rita Faye Hensley, all of Louisville and Granville Collins of Clermont, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica and Alisa Delph, Brittany, Summer and Adam Collins and Jody Shipman. He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Mr. Collins’ funeral service was conducted at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, May 15 at the Krypton Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Carol Wayne Johnson officiating. The burial took place at the Couch Cemetery at Yerkes.
