The Perry County Central Commodores played their last regular season baseball game on the road at Whitley County. The Commodores fell behind late in the game, but managed a late rally to pull off the 6-3 win.
Neither team scored through the first three innings. Whitley County broke eventually broke the ice in the fourth inning, scoring a single run. The Colonels added another run in the fifth inning to take the 2-0 lead.
Perry Central took the lead for the first time in the sixth inning, crossing the plate three time to take the 3-2 lead.
Brandon Napier led off the inning with a single, and promptly moved to third with the aid of a stolen base and a pass ball. John Couch brought Napier home with a double. Ronnie Noplis moved Couch to third with a single.
Couch tied the score at two when he stole home on a napping Colonel defense. Noplis moved to second on the play. Scott Watts gave the Commodores the lead with a sacrifice that plated Noplis (3-2).
Whitley County picked up a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at three. Perry Central broke the game open in the seventh inning, plating three to take the 6-3 advantage.
Chance Ashworth started the rally with a walk, and was joined on base by Roy Gay who picked up a single. John Couch drove in both runners with a double to centerfield. Couch would later score on a fielder’s choice that went a rye.
The Colonels were unable to get anything going in the bottom half of the inning, giving the Commodores the come from behind 6-3 win. John Couch picked up the win for the Commodores.
