Mr. Combs was born in Perry County, Ky. the son of the late Wade Combs and the late Lacreta Campbell Combs. By occupation he worked in commercial and residential construction and was self-employed. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Some of his fondest enjoyments included smoking his pipe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Lacreta Combs; wife Cora Combs; and three brothers and three sisters.
He leaves the following relatives surviving: sons Coolie Lane Combs of Richmond, Ky. and Alan Lin Combs of Richmond; brothers Adrian Combs of Hazard, Ky.; Grand Combs of Ohio, Mark Combs of Somerset, Ky., Wade Combs, Jr. of Hazard, Ky., and Kendell Combs of Hazard; sisters Stella Engle of Ohio and Lisa Combs of Rowdy, Ky. He is also survived by five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 21 at the Engle-Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Hazard with Donald Blair and Kendell Combs officiating. Burial followed in the Bill Smith Cemetery at Ary, Ky.
