A man lost his life following a fire in Knott County Thursday morning.
According to a release from the Kentucky State Police in Hazard, emergency personnel responded to a call reporting a possible house fire in the Mousie community, arriving at the home of 67-year-old Roy Short where the fire was extinguished. Police say minimal damage was sustained, but personnel found Short on the front porch. He has sustained fatal injuries.
Short was pronounced dead at the scene by the Knott County Coroner’s Office, and police say he was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. Police do not suspect foul play.
The investigation is continuing by Det. Chris Collins.
