Buy Atlanta Rhythm Section tickets as Christmas gifts
by Cris Ritchie - Editor
HCTC's Greater Hazard Area Performing Arts Series has a great suggestion for a Christmas gift - buying tickets to see the Atlanta Rhythm Section. The show is Tuesday, February 14, at 7 p.m. at The Forum in the Hal Rogers Center and tickets are on sale now.
Atlanta Rhythm Section has been part of the Southern Rock scene for more than 30 years. Their biggest hits include So Into You, Champagne Jam, Imaginary Lover and Spooky. The Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) put out 15 albums of excellent original material, and consistently put on entertaining live shows - both of which helped establish a broad if not huge fan base. They have been a major player in the Southern Rock scene. ARS was paired with contemporaries Lynyrd Skynyrd as the successors to the Allman Brothers - carrying the mantle of "Southern Rock" in the late '70s.
Event sponsors are Medical Mall Imaging Center, AEP Kentucky Power, Community Trust Bank, WXKQ 103.9 FM, and Leeco-Blue Diamond.
Series grand benefactors are: City of Hazard, Peoples Bank and Trust, Pine Branch Coal, Perry Distributors, Hampton Inn and Suites, Whitaker Bank, and Hazard Lions Club. And, the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, supports the seasons with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
