The Perry County Central Commodores traveled to Marshall County this past weekend to play in the Marshall County Invitational Tournament. The Commodores took on a strong team from Beech, Tennessee.

The Commodores struggled with their opponent’s height advantage throughout the game, but managed to stay in the contest. The score was tied at 12 at the end of the first period, and Perry Central was down one (28-27) at the half.

Perry Central continued to stick around in the third quarter, and the single-point deficit still stood going into the final period (38-37). The disadvantage took its toll in the fourth quarter as Beech began to pull away. The Commodores struggled to find their range, and eventually fell by the final of 60-46.

Perry Central (46) Austin Pray 4 (6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals), Braxton Beverly 9 (2 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal), Kyle Huff 4 (5 rebounds and 1 assist), Trevor Combs 19 (2 rebounds and 1 assist), and Dalton Cornett 9 (8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and 2 blocks).

Beech (60) R. Chamberlain 3, Lee 14, Ry. Chamberlain 15, Brown 21, C. Cummings 4 and Hathaway 5.
