Hazard Police Chief Minor Allen was joined by his two immediate predecessors Wednesday during a swearing in ceremony at the Perry County Hall of Justice. Allen took two oaths, one an oath of honor administered by former Chief Ronnie Bryant, and a constitutional oath administered by Circuit Judge Bill Engle. Allen was hired by the city commission this month to fill the role of chief following Bryant’s retirement. Also on hand was former Chief Rod Maggard, who served as chief prior to Bryant, and who said he expects the department to move forward during Allen’s tenure as chief.
