On Tuesday, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs hosted the Powell County Lady Pirates. The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start, and spent the rest of the game trying to make up the difference.

Hazard had difficulty finding their mark in the first period, and only hit one field goal in the frame. The poor shooting by the Lady Bulldogs lifted Powell County to the 12-2 lead at the horn.

The Lady Bulldogs turned the tables on the Lady Pirates in the second period, and cut all but two points off their deficit. Going into the break, Hazard trailed 21-19.

The lead went back and forth in the third period, with neither team being able to open up an advantage. Powell County finished the period with the momentum, and went into the final period with the 41-38 lead.

Hazard had a couple of opportunities in the final frame, but Powell County managed to shut the door on a comeback each time. The Lady Pirates were able to hold on for the 60-53 win.

Hazard (53) Brooke Sharpey 17 (11 rebounds), Maddison Niece 2 (9 assists), Sarah Pratt 6, Tori Wells 15 (10 rebounds), Kristin Handshoe 2, Brittany Miller 6, and Hannah Webb 5 (6 rebounds).

Powell Co. (60) Wells 4, Knox 5, Atkinson 7, Curtis 8, Rogers 32 and Deck 4.
