Orlin R. Strunk, Sr., 89 of Somerville, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 4.
He was born on January 31, 1923 in Combs, the son of the late Shelby & Lythia (Shelton) Strunk. Orlin was a 1941 graduate of Combs High School and retired in 1985 from AK Steel. He also enjoyed camping, traveling, puzzle books, and mowing yards. He was also a life member of the VFW in Hazard, and proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Madeline (Baker) Strunk in 1952; daughter Karen Skeens in 2001; sister Alberta Combs; and brothers Norman, Shelby, Eugene and Jack Strunk.
He is survived by wife of 57 years, Edna Mae (Blair) Strunk; daughters Deloris Henson and Jenny and husband Michael Rumpler, all of Somerville; sons Kenny and wife Ronda Strunk of Camden, Ohio and Orlin Strunk, Jr. and wife Jill of Eaton, Ohio; brother Robert and wife Nada Strunk of Loveland, Ohio, along with 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 9 at Somerville United Presbyterian Church, the corner of Church St. & Walnut St., Somerville, Ohio, with Pastor Edward J. Brown officiating. Interment will be held in Somerville Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard. Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the church prior to the funeral.
