Sophia Mullins, 78, died Thursday, April 5 at her residence in Hazard.

She was the daughter of the late Floyd Mullins and the late Cassie Holliday Mullins, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Mullins, Jr., and daughters Linda Joyce Mullins and Brenda Mullins.

She is survived by her daughter, Louise Farler and husband Harlan; sisters Martha Sowder, Golden Noble, Lydia Faye Smith and Mahala Ruth New; brothers Fred Mullins, Wallace Mullins and Roy “Butch” Mullins; grandchild Jonathan Farler and wife Kellie, along with a host of family and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, with additional services at 7 p.m. The funeral will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 8 with David Mullins, Norvell Gambill and Teddy Bailey officiating. Interment will be at Red Hill Cemetery in Chavies.
