Hazard out-duels Montgomery Co. 10-9 at home

Last week, the Hazard Bulldogs hosted the Montgomery County Indians in high school baseball. The game went back and forth with the Bulldogs pulling out the 10-9 win.

Montgomery County got on the board first with three runs in the first inning. The Indians pushed their lead to 4-0 with an extra run in the second inning.

Hazard went ballistic in the bottom half of the second inning, scoring six times and taking the 6-4 advantage. Montgomery County went back to work in the following frame, and cut the lead to 6-5. The Indians then reclaimed the lead with three runs in the fourth inning (6-8).

The Bulldogs got their bats going once again in the fifth inning, scoring three times and taking the 9-8 lead. The two teams traded runs in the sixth inning, leaving Hazard with the 10-9 advantage. The Indians could not rally in the seventh, and the Bulldogs claimed the win (10-9).

Griffin Wells got the win on the mound, going 2.67 innings, giving up one run on three hits, with two walks and three strikeouts. Evan Whitaker got the save with .67 innings of work, dealing no hits, no walks and one strikeout. Kameron Conley went 3.67 innings with eight runs, eight hits, three walks and one strikeout.

Hazard stats: Jordan Olinger 2 runs, 2 hits and 1 RBI, Austin Johnson 1 run, 3 hits and 3 RBI, Josh Meehan 1 run, Evan Whitaker 1 run, 2 hits and 2 RBI, Griffin Wells 1 run and 1 RBI, Nathan Stupart 2 runs, Jacob Roll 1 run, 1 hit and 1 RBI and Kevin Eversole 1 run and 1 hit.
