Yankees take easy win in first game of Little League season

The Yankees and the Padres kicked off the 2012 Little League season. The Yankees jumped out to the early lead, and never looked back as they posted a 25-3 win.

The Yankees got things started with nine runs in the first inning. The Padres countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame, bringing the score to 9-3.

It was all Yankees at that point as they scored 10 runs in the second inning, one in the third, and rounded the game out with five runs in the fourth inning. The Yankees took the opening game by the final count of 25-3.

Yankee stats: Wade Pelfrey 1 hit and 3 runs, Bailey Blair 2 hits (HR) and 4 runs, Skylar Pelfrey 2 hits and 3 runs, Cameron Stacy 1 hit and 2 runs, Braxton Cottongame 1 hit and 4 runs, Reece Fletcher 1 hit and 2 runs, Trevor Spurlock 2 hits and 2 runs, Mason Grigsby 1 run, Tyson Turner 1 hit and 2 runs, and Garrett Miller 1 run.

Padres stats: Colton Smith 1 run, Devin Fugate 1 run, and Jordan Combs 1 hit and 1 run.
