Richard Combs, 80, died Friday, April 20 at his home in Hazard.

He was born June 1, 1931 in Perry County, the son of the late John Combs and the late Polly Sizemore Combs, and was also preceded in death by brothers Willie and Robert Combs, and sisters Isabelle Sizemore, Ellie Combs and Melda Combs.

He was a life-long resident of Perry County and a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Combs of Hazard; sons Richard Combs, Jr. and wife Tammy of Winchester, Billy Wayne Combs and wife Elisha of George’s Branch, John Combs and wife Vanessa of Hiner, and Eddie Combs and wife Crystal of Hiner; daughter Tammy Neace and husband Clarence of Hiner, along with 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 24 at 11 a.m. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on East Main Street with Willie Wagers officiating. The interment will follow in the Eversole Cemetery located at Lower Second Creek. The visitation will be on Monday evening at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m.
