Hazard nipped by Letcher in road game

Early last week, the Hazard Lady Bulldogs traveled to Letcher County to take on the Lady Cougars. The Lady Bulldogs took the early lead, but could not hold off a late charge by the Lady Cougars.

Letcher Central took the lead with a run in the first inning, but gave it back in the second. Hazard jumped up 6-1 in the third inning, however, the Lady Cougars answered with four in the bottom half of the inning (6-5).

The Lady Cougars tied the game in the fourth inning. They then outscored the Lady Bulldogs 2-1 in the sixth inning, creating the difference in the game. The bats fell silent in the seventh inning, leaving Letcher Central to take the 6-7 win.

Hazard stats: M. Niece 2 runs and 2 hits, E. Ratliff 1 run, 2 hits and 1 RBI, M. Saylor 1 hit, K. Handshoe 2 runs and 2 hits, P. Williams 1 RBI, A. Stupart 2 hits and 2 RBI, M. Robinson 1 run and J. gugate 1 run. Pitching: C. Maggard: 11 hits, 8 runs, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts.
