Perry man dies two months after fire

HAZARD — An Avawam man injured in a fire over two months ago passed away as a result of injuries suffered during the fire.

Fire and rescue crews were called to a home in Avawam on February 22. Reports indicated that two people in the home were injured and both were flown to the hospital.

WYMT-TV in Hazard reported that Ian Herman Feltner, Jr. passed away last week after battling back from injuries sustained in a fire at his home in February. Feltner and his wife were both injured, however, she was released from the hospital.

According to his friends and family, he went back into the home to save his wife when the house caught fire.

Feltner’s funeral was held on Monday, April 30.
