Bulldogs fend off Rebel rally

Late last week, the Hazard Bulldog traveled to Eastern to take on the Allen Central Rebels. The Bulldogs got off to a good start, and built a lead, but later had to fend off a serious rally by the Rebels to take the win.
Hazard opened the game with a pair of runs, and continued to lead 2-0 until the third inning when Allen Central went up 3-2. The Bulldogs rallied for a five-run inning, giving them the 7-3 advantage.
In the sixth inning, the Bulldogs pushed their lead to 8-3, and settled in to defend their lead. The Rebels countered with two runs (8-5) in the bottom of the sixth, and two more in the seventh (8-7).
Hazard squashed the rally before Allen Central could tie the game, giving them the 8-7 win. Griffin Wells got the win on the mound, going 5.1 innings with seven hits, five runs, two walks and six strikeouts. Kameron Conley added 1.2 innings with two runs, one walk and five strikeouts.
