HAZARD – A Perry County man was indicted this month on allegations that he stabbed his wife, and later attempted to hide the weapon.
Kenneth D. Halcomb, 34, of Leatherwood, is facing charges of first-degree assault and tempering with physical evidence, according to the indictment returned by the Perry County Grand Jury on May 4.
Halcomb is accused of stabbing Emma Michelle Halcomb “multiple times with a knife” during an alleged incident on March 4. His bail was set at $250,000. If convicted, Halcomb could face a maximum of 20 years in prison on the assault charge.
A second indictment was also returned this month alleging first-degree assault. In a separate case, 48-year-old Johnny Collins of Viper is facing one count of assault for allegedly hitting another man over the head with a rifle on February 12, inflicting serious injury. Collins’ bail was also set at $250,000.
In total, the grand jury returned 38 indictments in May, including one against 29-year-old Katrina Godsey of Bulan. She is facing one count of first-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly becoming intoxicated and falling asleep, allowing her three-year-old child to leave the home unattended on March 20. According to the indictment, the child was later found naked on a public road. Her bail was set at $20,000.
Michael Turner, 66, of Paris, was also indicted on one count of first-degree wanton endangerment. He is charged with firing a pistol and then pointing the firearm at his son during an incident on March 16. Bail was set at $20,000.
Christopher Caudill, 42, of Hazard, was indicted on charges of first-degree criminal mischief and first-degree persistent felony offender. He is charged with setting fire to someone else’s home, causing damage in excess of $1,000. Bail was set at $40,000.
Several indictments were returned alleging theft-related charges, including one against Nicholas B. Salley, 34, of Hazard, who was indicted in a case stemming from March 20 in which police allege that he broke into Master Tech Auto on North Main Street in Hazard. He is charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 for allegedly stealing a total of three vehicles from the business, along with charges of third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest and first-degree persistent felony offender. Bail was set at $50,000.
Dennis R. Smith, 38 of Hazard, is charged with first-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking over $500, and fleeing or evading police. He was alleged to have burglarized a home in February 2012 while in possession of a rifle, according to the indictment. He allegedly stole a number of personal items from the home that were valued at over $500. As police arrived to arrest Smith, he allegedly fled the scene. His bail is set at $50,000.
Christopher Todd Blanton, 42, and April Hall, 40, both of Hazard, are charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception. Both were alleged to have possessed forged checks from the same account at separate times in 2011, and then cashing the checks. Their bail is set at $25,000 cash.
Joel Lewis, 42, of Hazard, was indicted on one count of theft by unlawful taking over $500 for allegedly stealing $725 in cash from an unlocked vehicle parked on Christopher Road back in February. Bail was set at $20,000.
Chad Q. Christy, 30, of Vancleve, Ky., was indicted on one count of theft by deception over $500 for allegedly receiving $1,300 for repair work that he never performed between December 2010 and January 2011. His bail was set at $20,000.
Courtney Maggard, 19, of Busy, is charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking over $500. She was an employee of the Hazard Walmart when she allegedly stole $2,300 by taking cash from the register, and also placing money on an employee debit card. Bail was set at $20,000.
Shannon B. Fultz, 34, of Whitesburg, is charged with one count each of second-degree robbery and second-degree persistent felony offender. Fultz is accused of using physical force on employees of the Hazard Magic Mart while committing a theft on February 4. Bail was set at $50,000.
Veronique Amber Brewer, 45, of Hazard, is charged with fraudulent use of a credit card over $10,000 and theft by deception over $10,000, both Class C felonies punishable by a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Brewer is accused of using someone else’s debit card on several occasions between July 18 and September 13, 2011 without permission, making charges in excess of $10,000. Her bail was set at $30,000.
Several more people were also indicted on drug related charges, such as possession and trafficking. Robert L. Hall, 31, of Busy, is facing one count of first-degree possession of a controlled substance. He is accused of illegally possessing oxycodone on August 16, 2011.
Tosha Brown, 25, of Bonnyman, is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance for allegedly selling one oxycodone tablet to a cooperating witness. Her bail is set at $20,000.
Darrell C. Baker, 49, of Mount Sterling, was indicted on two counts of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance for allegedly selling more than 10 dosages of oxycodone. On January 8 an undercover officer allegedly bought 12 oxycodone tablets from Baker. Then, five days later, undercover officers purchased 100 more oxycodone tablets. Baker’s bail is set at $30,000 cash.
Joseph King, 29, of Hazard, is facing charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and theft by unlawful taking less than $500. He is accused of illegally possessing 15 oxycodone tablets on December 16, 2011, and taking a cell phone case from the Hazard Walmart. His bail was set at $20,000.
Shawn S. Colwell, 30, and Peter A. Cassinelli, 48, both of Hazard, were also indicted this month. Both are charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance for allegedly possessing oxycodone on February 29. Cassinelli is facing additional charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of a legend drug for allegedly possessing 40 Neurontin tablets. Their bails are set at $20,000.
Gail Hicks, 33, of Hazard, was indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree persistent felony offender. According to the indictment, Hicks illegally possessed two oxycodone tablets on November 28, 2011. Bail was set at $30,000.
Paul D. Couch, 23, of Hazard was also indicted on a trafficking charge. Couch is charged with one count of first-degree trafficking and one count of driving on a suspended license. He was allegedly found to be in possession of 250 methadone tablets with intent to traffic. At this same time he was also alleged to have been driving on a suspended license. His bail is set at $30,000.
Willie D. Williams, 32, of Bonnyman, is charged with one count of first-degree trafficking. Williams allegedly sold two oxycodone tablets to a cooperating witness on June 9, 2011. His bail is set at $20,000 cash.
Tommy Baker, 44 of Busy was also indicted on trafficking charges this month. Baker is charged with first and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance along with trafficking in marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance. On October 4, 2011, Baker was allegedly found to be in possession of 10 or more dosages of oxycodone, 20 or more dosages of hydrocodone, and marijuana, all with intent to traffic. Baker was also allegedly in possession of Alprazolam. His bail is set at $30,000.
Also indicted for trafficking was Johnny R. Gross, 40, of Combs. Gross was indicted on one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a fire arm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, and being a persistent felony offender. On August 30, 2011 Gross was allegedly found to be in possession of more than 10 dosages of oxycodone with intent to sell. He was also found to be in possession of a handgun and marijuana, according to the indictment. His bail is set at $50,000.
Dale E. Wilson, 41, of Lexington, is charged with one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. He was alleged to have possessed 10 oxycodone dosage units with the intent to traffic on August 3, 2011. Bail was set at $30,000.
Troleen L. Campbell, 40, of Bonnyman, is facing one count of second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance for allegedly selling one hydrocodone tablet to a cooperating witness on May 25, 2011. Bail was set at $20,000.
Paul Franklin Wooton, 30, of Bonnyman, was indicted on one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. He was alleged to have sold one oxycodone tablet to a cooperating witness on April 12. Bail was set at $20,000.
Patricia Combs, 54, of Fisty, is charged with first-degree promoting contraband for allegedly bringing a controlled substance into the Kentucky River Regional Jail on March 21, 2011. Bail was set at $20,000.
Bradley Asher, 31, of Combs, was indicted on one count of first-degree possession of a controlled substance for allegedly illegally possessing oxycodone on August 30, 2011. Bail was set at $20,000.
John H. Patterson, 54, of Hazard, was indicted on one count of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. According to the indictment, Patterson possessed 26 and one-half oxycodone tablets with the intent to traffic during an incident on March 29, 2008. His bail was set at $30,000.
Tiffany M. Francis, 20, of Sassafras, was indicted on charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and first-degree promoting contraband. She is accused of possessing meth on January 8, and also attempting to bring a controlled substance into the Kentucky River Regional Jail on the same day. Her bail was set at $20,000.
Fallon Hall, 29, of Happy, is facing charges of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and second-degree persistent felony offender for allegedly possessing 18 methadone tablets with the intent to distribute on September 28, 2011. His bail was set at $40,000.
Other indictments included one against 25-year-old Brandon S. Fletcher, of Bonnyman, who was indicted on charges of first-degree fleeing or evading police and second-degree persistent felony offender. He is accused of disregarding a police officer’s direction to stop his motorcycle, and fleeing from police at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. His bail was set at $40,000.
Dusty Wise, 28, of Hell For Certain, is charged with one count of second-degree escape for allegedly escaping from a work detail of the Kentucky River Regional Jail on October 31, 2011. He bail is set at $20,000.
James E. Everage, 32, of Emmalena, was indicted on two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. He was accused of possessing forged checks on June 3 and June 6 of 2011. His bail was set at $20,000.
Sharon Langdon, 41, of Hazard, was indicted this month for allegedly receiving public benefits through deception. She is charged with fraudulently obtaining public benefits, which is a Class D felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison. According to the indictment, Langdon failed to report the correct amount earned by her household from August 2009 and October 2011. The indictment alleges that she obtained $4,285 in overpaid benefits. Her bail is set at $4,500 cash.
Mary Fletcher Grigsby, 36 of Bulan was also indicted this month. Grigsby is charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument. During the summer of 2011, Grigsby was alleged to be in possession of forged checks while knowing them to have been forged. Her bail is set at $20,000.
