Whitaker throws shutout as Hazard downs Harlan County

On Thursday, the Hazard Bulldogs traveled to Harlan to take on the Harlan County Black Bears. The Bulldogs had little trouble disposing of the Black Bears as Evan Whitaker threw a two-hitter in the 7-0 shutout.

Hazard secured the win in the first inning as they plated three runs. The Bulldogs added another run in the second inning to boost their lead to 4-0.

The Bulldogs got back on the board in the fifth inning with a solo run (5-0), and closed out the game with two runs in the sixth inning (7-0). The 7-0 lead would hold as the final.

Hazard stats: Austin Johnson 2 runs and 1 hit, Griffin Wells 1 hit and 1 RBI, Evan Whitaker 1 run and 1 RBI, Jordan Olinger 3 runs and 3 hits, J. T. Haynes 1 run, 2 hits and 2 RBI, and Josh Meehan 2 hits and 2 RBI. Winning pitcher: Evan Whitakr: 7 innings, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts, 2 hits and 0 runs.
