Coal Mining Our Future is sponsoring coal rallies in Frankfort and in Pikeville in June to coincide with EPA meetings to discuss mining permits in Eastern Kentucky.

The rally in Frankfort will be held on June 5, from 7- 11 p.m. at the Franklin Civic Center, with a pre rally starting at 5 p.m.

The second rally will be held on June 7 at the East Kentucky Expo center from noon to 4 p.m., and then from 7 to 11 to allow time for rally attendees to attend the EPA meeting. A pre rally will begin at 4:30 pm.

According to a release from Coal Mining Our Future, they are asking for coal miners, families, churches, senior citizens, business owners and blue collar workers to come out and show support for the coal industry.

Transportation will be provided. Buses will be leaving from Perry County Central High School on both rally days. You can reserve space on the bus by calling (606) 435-0470 or emailing info@coalminingourfuture.net.

Anyone that is interested in speaking at the EPA meeting can sign up at http://www.epa.gov/region4/kycoalminehearings.
