Pauline Hammonds, 81, of Hazard, died Wednesday, June 13 at the hospice care center in Hazard. She was a retired school teacher for the Perry County School District.

She was the daughter of the late Carl Evans and the late Mae Hammonds Evans, and was also preceded in death by her brother, Herman Hammonds, and sister Norma Jean Shockey.

She is survived by brothers J.C. Hammonds and wife Bobbie, and James Evans and wife Edith; nieces Jessica Evans, Megan Evans, Susie Sizemore, Debbie Hammonds, Cheryl Dunigan and Pam Hammonds; nephews David Evans and Gary Hammonds; and great-niece Isabella Evans.

Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 15. Services will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 with Merill David Collins officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Jeff.
