Christine Smith, 83, of Hazard, died Thursday, July 19 at the Hazard ARH medical center.

She was the daughter of the late Shade Bush and the late Alma Carter Bush, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Haven Smith, son Ellis Smith and daughter Delphia Stacy.

She is survived by daughters Opal Noble, Betty Miller, Eva Sue Gross and Agness Banks; sons Charles Smith, Roy Smith, Steve Smith, Larry Smith and Haven Smith; sister Barbara West; brother Curtis Bush, along with 31 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. The visitation will be held at the Denver Sumner Memorial Church at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20. Services will begin at 11 a.m. at the church on Sunday, July 22 with Junior Whitaker, Eli Smith and Brother Cloud officiating. Interment will be at Bush Cemetery at Pigeon Roost.
