BONNYMAN — A Perry County man had a scary moment on Friday as his car veered off the road and landed on its top in a creek.

Lewis Kidd was driving on Jimmy Darrel Way when his car went off the edge of the road. Perry County Deputy Chris Combs said that Kidd was apparently talking on his cell phone, and he became distracted and was no longer paying attention when the car neared the roads four foot drop off.

“He was on his cell phone and wasn’t paying attention,” said Combs.

The car flipped over in a shallow creek. Kidd was able to crawl out of the car and said he had no injuries and refused medical treatment. Kidd was the only person in the car at the time of the accident.

Jimmy Darrel Way was blocked while crews retrieved the car from the creek.
