The Hazard Lady Bulldogs kicked off their 2012 volleyball season on the road with the Jackson City Lady Tigers. The Lady Bulldogs were on top of their game early and came away with a rout of the Lady Tigers two games to none.

The outcome of the contest was clear from the opening serve, as Hazard collected a big early lead. Jackson City had a couple of moments during the game, but the Lady Bulldogs never gave up control throughout the game. Hazard went on to win game one 25-10.

The second game was a mirror image of the first as the Lady Bulldogs again blew through the competition. Hazard went on to close out the game, and the contest, by the final count of 25-12.

Hazard stats: Sarah Pratt 3 kills, 13 assists and 2 aces, Maddison Niece 7 kills and 6 aces, Lindsey Branson 2 digs and 1 ace, Marjorie Hammonds 7 kills, 1 assist and 2 aces, Krystann Thies 8 kills and 5 aces, and Paige Williams 3 kills and 3 aces.

The Lady Bulldogs split the early contests between the Freshmen and the JV.

In the Freshmen contest, the Lady Bulldogs took no prisoners as they downed the Lady Tigers in straight games. In the first game, Hazard eased into a 17-8 win, and then finished off the Lady Tigers 17-7.

Things did not go as well for Hazard in the JV game as they lost in straight games. The Lady Bulldogs got off to a good start in the first game, but could not hold on as they fell 21-15. Hazard fell behind early in second game, but rallied late. The rally fell short as the Lady Bulldogs gave up the match with the 21-18 loss.
