Evelyn Napier, 95, of Hazard, passed away on Saturday, August 11 at the hospice care center in Hazard.

She was a clerk for George’s Shoe Store, and the daughter of the late Fulton Newberry and the late Cindy Smith Newberry. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Napier, and sisters Violet Gibson and Opal Shepherd.

She is survived by her son, Joe Napier, Jr.; daughter Marianna Cornett; sisters Edith Isaac and Jenny Stacy; grandson Dwayne Cornett and wife Tammy; great-grandchild Brooklyn Cornett, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, where the visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15. The funeral will immediately follow with Jim Sluss officiating. Burial will be at the Resthaven Cemetery in Jeff.
