Kentucky State Police promotes 56 officers

FRANKFORT — The Kentucky State Police announced the promotion of 56 officers throughout the state at a special ceremony held today at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort. Two KSP majors, 10 captains, 11 lieutenants and 23 sergeants were commissioned along with three Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) captains, three lieutenants, and four sergeants.


KSP Capt. Merrell J. Harrison was promoted to major and transferred from command of Post 14 in Ashland to command of the East Troop at KSP headquarters in Frankfort. A resident of Mt. Sterling and native of Harlan, Harrison is a 21-year KSP veteran.


KSP Capt. Lyndol S. Miller was promoted to major and transferred from command of Post 11 in London to command of the Administrative Division, Professional Support Troop at KSP headquarters in Frankfort. A resident of Lexington and native of Lafollette, Tenn., Miller is a 14-year KSP veteran.


KSP Lt. Brian Bowling was promoted to captain and transferred from the Legislative Security and Facilities Security Branches in Frankfort to KSP Post 8 in Morehead as commander. A resident of Flemingsburg and a native of Sharpsburg, Bowling is a 19-year KSP veteran.


KSP Lt. Phillip Burnett Jr. was promoted to captain and transferred from Post 10 in Harlan to Post 11 in London. A native and resident of Pineville, Burnett is a 17-year KSP veteran.


CVE Lt. Joseph Conn was promoted to captain and transferred from Region 2 in Louisville to Region 5 in Morehead. A native and resident of Columbia, Conn is a 12-year CVE veteran.


KSP Lt. Gregory Crockett was promoted to captain and transferred from the Criminal Identification and Records Branch in Frankfort to KSP Post 6 in Dry Ridge as commander. A resident of Lexington and a native of Somerset, Crockett is a 16-year KSP veteran.


KSP Lt. Matt Feltner was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to the Legal Services Branch in Frankfort as commander. A resident of London and a native of Hyden, Feltner is a 14-year KSP veteran.


KSP Lt. Brandon Hammers was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to the Aircraft Branch in Frankfort as commander. A resident of Lancaster and a native of Rochester, Hammers is an 18-year KSP veteran.


CVE Lt. Derek Hines was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to Region 4 in London. A native and resident of McKinney, Hines is an 11-year CVE veteran.


KSP Lt. David Jude was promoted to captain and transferred from the Public Affairs Branch in Frankfort to the Academy Branch in Frankfort as commander. A resident of Paris and a native of Ashland, Jude is a 13-year KSP veteran.


KSP Lt. David Millay was promoted to captain and transferred from the Supply Branch in Frankfort to the Financial and Grants Management Branch in Frankfort as commander. A resident of Elizabethtown and a native of Louisville, Millay is a 17-year KSP veteran.


CVE Lt. Darrin Patterson was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to Region 6 in Pikeville. A resident of Bowling Green and a native of Granite City, Ill., Patterson is a 22-year CVE veteran.


KSP Lt. Steven Long was promoted to captain and transferred from the Academy Branch in Frankfort to the Internal Affairs Branch in Frankfort as commander. A resident of Versailles and a native of Madison, Ind., Long is a 17-year KSP veteran.


KSP Lt. James O’Bannon was promoted to captain and transferred from KSP Post 11 in London to Post 9 in Pikeville as commander. A resident and native of London, O’Bannon is a 16-year KSP veteran.


KSP Lt. Jeffrey Suratt was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to Post 15 in Columbia as commander. A resident and native of Greensburg, Suratt is a 19-year KSP veteran.


KSP Sgt. James Catron was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from Post 13 in Hazard to Post 10 in Harlan. A resident of Emmalena and a native of Hazard, Catron is a 10-year KSP veteran.


KSP Sgt. Brenton Ford was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to Post 2 in Madisonville. A resident and native of Owensboro, Ford is a 13-year KSP veteran.


KSP Sgt. James Heller was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from Post 15 in Columbia to Post 7 in Richmond. A resident of Magnolia and a native of Louisville, Heller is a 17-year KSP veteran.


KSP Sgt. Jeremy S. Johnson was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to Post 15 in Columbia. A resident and native of Somerset, Johnson is a 10-year KSP veteran.


KSP Sgt. Matthew J. Johnson was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from Post 4 in Elizabethtown to the Legislative Security and Facilities Security Branches in Frankfort. A resident of Elizabethtown and a native of Louisville, Johnson is a 11-year KSP veteran.


CVE Sgt. John Kearns was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from the Academy Branch to Region 2 in Louisville. A resident of Richmond and a native of Dallas, Tx., Kearns is a 12-year CVE veteran.


KSP Sgt. Jimmie McCarty was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to Post 14 in Ashland. A resident of Staffordsville and a native of Paintsville, McCarty is a 17-year KSP veteran.


KSP Sgt. Jason Newby was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from Post 2 in Madisonville to the Recruitment Branch at KSP headquarters in Frankfort. A resident of Hopkinsville and a native of Carbondale, Ill., Newby is a 12-year KSP veteran.


KSP Sgt. Thomas Pyzik was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to the Academy Branch in Frankfort. A resident of Lexington and a native of Versailles, Pyzik is a 13-year KSP veteran.


KSP Sgt. Howard Rice was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to Post 5 in Campbellsburg. A native and resident of Bethlehem, Rice is a 14-year KSP veteran.


CVE Sgt. Michael Simpson was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to Region 5 in Morehead. A resident of Richmond and a native of Brodhead, Simpson is an eight-year CVE veteran.


KSP Sgt. Ezra Stout was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from Post 4 in Elizabethtown to Post 3 in Bowling Green. A resident of Brandenburg and a native of Tateville, Stout is a 12-year KSP veteran.


KSP Sgt. Brian Sumner was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to the Criminal Identification and Records Branch in Frankfort. A resident of Lexington and a native of Pinetop, Sumner is a 13-year KSP veteran.


CVE Sgt. Tristan Truesdell was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to the CVE Program Support Branch in Frankfort. A resident of Frankfort and a native of Maysville, Truesdell is a 15-year CVE veteran.


Tpr. Timothy Adams was promoted to sergeant and transferred from Post 3 in Bowling Green to Post 4 in Elizabethtown. A resident of Glasgow and a native of Cynthiana, Adams is an eight-year KSP veteran.


Tpr. Christopher Armbrust was promoted to sergeant and transferred from Post 16 in Henderson to Post 2 in Madisonville.
