Gaylene Sale, 54, died Friday, Oct. 12 at the U.K. Markey Cancer Center in Lexington.
She was born Nov. 11, 1957 in Perry County, the daughter of the late Edgar T. Hensley and the late Lucy Causey Hensley. She was also preceded in death by sisters Lisa Gail Hensley and Leila Mae Hensley.
She had been a resident of Perry County for the last 37 years, and was a member of the Happy Bible Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taught Sunday School at church, and devoted her life to helping others.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Sale of Hazard; son Josh Sale of Hazard; daughter Christy Sale Durham and husband Jamie of Danville; brothers Howard Hensley of Conyers, Ga., Eddie Hensley of Douglasville, Ga., and James Hensley of Hyden; sisters Jean Rogers of Conyers and Penny Shepherd of Hazard; grandchildren Seth Sale, Haylie Sale, Carly Durham, and Chandler Durham, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard with Paul Sale and John Sale officiating. The interment will follow in the Maggard Cemetery at Coon Creek in Cutshin, Kentucky. The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m.
