On Tuesday, the Perry County Lady Commodores participated in the 14th region soccer tournament. The Lady Commodores took on the Lady Engineers of Estill County.

The game was tight throughout the first period, with neither team really getting a good look at the goal. At the 34-minute mark, Estill County caught a break and placed a crossing shot in the net (1-0).

A few minutes later, Perry Central’s Ashley Morris picked up a ball at midfield and raced to the goal. When the goalie came out to meet her, Morris put a soft shot just out of the goalie’s reach (1-1). The game went to the half tied at one.

The game went back to the back-and-forth format for most of the second period, with neither team finding a shot. At the 74th minute, Estill County caught a break.

After what looked to be a handball in the box, in the confusion, the Lady Engineers kicked the ball in the net. The center judge waved off the side flag, and the goal stood. It would prove to be the winning goal.
