Last week, the Hazard Lady Bulldog volleyball team participated in the 14th region volleyball tournament. The Lady Bulldogs made it to the finals where they eventually fell to the Letcher Central Lady Cougars.

The Lady Cougars have won every region championship since they have been a school. Hazard came out strong, and quickly put Letcher Central at a disadvantage. The Lady Bulldogs kept the pressure turned up, and came away with the 25-15 win.

The Lady Cougars came back with their best stuff in game two and jumped out to the 7-0 lead. The Lady Bulldogs fought their way back into the game, and eventually forced extra serves to decide the game. Hazard came out of the scuffle with their second win of the match 26-24.

Hazard needed but one more game to close out the match and advance to the state tournament. The Lady Bulldogs started the third game well, but quickly ran out of steam. The Lady Cougars were able to rally, and took the third game by the score of 25-12. Hazard stumbled out of the blocks in the fourth game, and never really recovered. They eventually fell 25-17, forcing a fifth and deciding game.

Letcher Central came out of the gate fast and furious in the final game, and never looked back as they raced to the 15-4 win. The win sent the Lady Cougars to the state tournament.
