HAZARD — A Perry County man convicted of making methamphetamine was sentenced to serve time in jail last week in Perry Circuit Court.
On October 24, 2011, Darrel Walker, 54, was charged with making meth inside his home in the Leatherwood community. Police were led to the house after a tip told them of some illegal activities were going on there.
Once inside the home, officers found evidence of meth making, including several precursors and a quantity of the drug. Along with these findings they also found paraphernalia and marijuana.
At the time the home was searched, police reported that there were two adult females and a young child in the home. The females were not charged.
Walker was indicted in April and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a methamphetamine precursor, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. He was sentenced to serve a total of five years in jail.
