Some areas of Perry County, including Town Mountain pictured here, received a few inches of snowfall Monday night and into Tuesday morning, catching the edge of Hurricane Sandy, a major storm system stretching 1,000 miles to the northeast and into New England. Classes were called off for Perry County Schools as a result, and as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, 285 Kentucky Power customers were without electricity. Most areas inside Hazard’s city limits did not receive significant accumulating snowfall.
