Coralee Sparkman, 81, the wife of the late broadcaster Ernest Sparkman, died Sunday, Oct. 28 at the hospice care center in Hazard.
She was part owner of WKIC and WSGS radio, and a member of New Hope Christian Center. She was also the daughter of the late John Henry Williams and the late Susanna Slone Williams, and was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Sparkman; daughter-in-law Linda Sparkman; and a host of siblings: Estill Williams, Leslie Williams, Ollie Williams Hayes, Earl Williams, Grover Williams, Sid Williams, Dave Williams, Arthur Williams, Gertrude Williams Adams, Shirley Williams Eversole, Shirley Williams Eversole, and Harold Williams.
She is survived by sons Faron Sparkman and Stuart Shane Sparkman and wife Kim; sister Joyce Bates; grandchildren Wesley Graham Sparkman, Cedric Warner Sparkman, and Cory Shane Sparkman; great-grandchild Medora June Sparkman; and a host of family & friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard. The visitation will be at the New Hope Christian Center from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, with funeral services at 7 p.m. with Rev. Mike Barnett officiating. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
