The A. B. Combs Lady Bearcats and the Buckhorn Lady Wildcats took to the floor in game three of the 6th grade county tournament. The Lady Bearcats opened up a slight lead in the first half, and then rolled to the 32-18 win.
Things were tight in the first period as Buckhorn managed to match A. B. Combs early. The Lady Bearcats hit a late basket to give them an 8-5 lead at the horn.
In the second period, A. B. Combs began to pull away. The Lady Bearcats’ defense opened a margin, and sent them into the locker room with the 18-9 advantage.
Buckhorn fought hard in the third period, but could not erase any of their deficit. A. B. Combs managed to add to their lead, and went into the final frame with the 26-13 lead.
The hard-fought battle continued in the fourth quarter, with neither team will to concede. However, the first half deficit proved to be too much for the Lady Wildcats, as the Lady Bearcats moved on in the tournament with the 32-18 win.
