Verna Napier, 89, died Friday, Nov. 2 at her home in Monticello, Ky.


She was the daughter of the late Sam Wooten and the late Rebecca Duff Wooten, and was also preceded in death by sisters Ada Campbell and Gladys Napier, and brothers Bill and Edward Wooten.


She is survived by her husband, Pearl Napier; daughters Billie Jean Walker and husband Raymond, and Joyce Napier; sister Ann Maggard and husband Moe; grandchildren Denise Wilson and husband Drew, and Kim Napier and husband Scott; great-grandchildren Elizabeth Wilson and Jarrett Napier; and a host of family and friends.


Arrangements were handled by Maggard Brothers Funeral Home of Hazard, where the services were held on Monday, Nov. 5 with Bill Gambill and Denzil Ratliff officiating. Interment was at Balis Napier Cemetery on Lotts Creek.
