Organizers are gearing up for the annual Christmas parade in downtown Hazard, which is set for this coming Saturday, Nov. 17. The theme for this year’s parade is “Coal for Christmas,” with Cokie and Brenda Cox serving as parade marshals. Organizers are asking all coal miners who attend the parade to wear their hard hats and lead the parade through Hazard. Lineup will begin at 3 p.m. at City Hall on Main Street, with the parade scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. The CHICKS Village will open at 3 p.m. at City Hall, and carriage rides will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Triangle Park. Carriage ride tickets can be purchased at Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance on Morton Blvd. A live nativity scene will be at Triangle Park. This photo of Santa was taken at the 2011 Christmas parade.
