The Perry County Central Commodores traveled to Stanton Saturday to take on the Powell County Pirates. Perry kept up a steady pace, and gradually pulled away for a 79-49 win.
Both teams hit the floor running with the tempo at a dizzying pace. The Commodores got the better of the fight, and came away with a 19-14 lead at the horn.
The second period saw the tempo stay in the Commodores’ court, allowing them to push the margin to double digits. Going into the break, Perry Central was on top 40-26.
Perry Central came out strong in the third period, and quickly put the game on ice. The Commodores were able to shut down the Pirates’ offense and stake themselves to a 63-35 advantage with eight minutes left to play.
The Commodores let up in the fourth quarter, and slacked off on their offense. Powell County was unable to put together any type of comeback, and Perry Central loaded the bus with a 79-49 win
