Possibly as early as next week Perry County residents will see the ambulance authority’s newest addition to its fleet, and it will sport a very unique color scheme. Trimmed in pink and with the phrase “Driving for a cure” emblazoned along the sides, the new ambulance was the brainchild of Assistant Director Wanda Noble, who said this week that her design, which incorporates the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon along with the familiar star of life, is meant to increase awareness for breast cancer. “I thought it was about time that we got an ambulance and wanted to design it for the people out in the county to support breast cancer awareness,” Noble said, adding that the ambulance will be used for local events as well, such as the Relay for Life in Hazard in June. The ambulance has not yet been put into service, and will need to undergo an inspection, but Noble said she hopes the vehicle will begin use as early as next week.
