The Cordia Lions improved to 6-2 on the season with two more wins this past week.

The Lions scored their first victory on the road against 53rd District foe Jenkins on Dec. 19 by a final score of 74-70.

Junior guard A.J. Tagaloa led Cordia with a double-double on the evening, scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds, while senior center Dondre Warren put up 19 points and 23 rebounds.

The Lions’ second win on the week came Saturday at home against the Wolfe County Wolves in what would prove to be an overtime thriller. Tagaloa connected on a three-point play to send the game to overtime, where the Lions would go on to the 71-68 win.

Tagaloa scored 24 points, while Warren scored a triple-double with 17 points to go alongside 23 rebounds and 10 assists.

Cordia will hit the road for their next three games in the Mountain Schoolboy Classic in Belfrey Dec. 27-29. Their first opponent on Christmas day will be Owen County, a team which currently sits at 7-2 on the season.
