In their second game of the Republic Bank Classic, the Perry County Central Commodores took on the Lexington Christian Eagles. The Commodores got out of the gate well, but had to wait until the second half to pull away from the Eagles.
Perry Central opened up a small lead in the early moments. However, Lexington Christian got hot and hit four threes in the period. The Eagles’ hot shooting netted them the 20-19 lead at the end of the first period.
Both teams cooled off in the second period. The Commodores were able to keep the game close, and swapped the lead on several occasions, but Perry Central would go into the break trailing 34-31.
A couple of minutes ticked off the clock in the third period before anyone found the basket. When the Commodores found their range, they began to light things up. By the end of the period, Perry Central was in the driver’s seat 49-39.
Try as they might, Lexington Christian could do little more than trade baskets with Perry Central in the fourth quarter. The Commodores were able to hold on, and collected the 63-52 win.
