Elva Couch, 95, died Tuesday, Dec. 31 at the Hazard ARH medical center.


She was born July 14, 1917 in Whitley City, Ky., the daughter of the late John B. Leveridge and Jeanette Brown. She was also preceded in death by the following her husband, Gillreece Couch, six brothers, and two sisters.


She is survived by her son, Gil Couch of Johnson City, Tn.; grandchildren Lesley Couch, and Tom Calf and Angela Cross; great-grandchildren Sean Cross and Kyle Cross, all of Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3 at the Engle Bowling Funeral Home Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends for visitation between the hours of noon until 2 p.m. Burial will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Hazard.
