Little Theatre of Hazard is pleased to announce their February performances of “Play On!” by Rick Abbot, in association with Samuel French, Inc. The show is presented by HCTC’s Greater Hazard Area Performing Arts Series. Terry Thies will direct the show.

“Play On!” is a hilarious story of a theatre group trying desperately to put on a play in spite of maddening interference from a haughty authoress who keeps revising the script. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal, and the final act is the actual performance in which anything that can go wrong does. Even the sound effects reap their share of laughter.

Local actors who will be performing in the play include: RaeAnn Barnett, Hobie Dotson, Elly Morris, Lisa Garza, Jake Jackson, Janet McReynolds, Richard Counts, Liana Dixon, Roberta Epperson, Victoria Howard, Terry Theis, Tracy Counts, and Lisa Hill. The crew is made up of: Scott McReynolds, Jack Caudill, Heather Williams, Caleb Halcomb, Robin Gabbard, and Karyn Knecht.

The play opens on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. in the First Federal Center on the Hazard Campus of HCTC. Additional shows can be seen on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. Little Theatre closes out this play with a matinee on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adult and $10 for seniors and students.

Events sponsors are 1st Trust Bank and the Hazard Perry County Chamber of Commerce.

Series grand benefactors are: Whitaker Bank, Peoples Bank and Trust, Perry Distributors, Pine Branch Coal Sales, Hazard Lions Club, and City of Hazard – Mayor Nan Gorman.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, provides operating support with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky and the Steele-Reese Foundation are also providing support this season.
