Mary Margaret Jackson, 77, of Versailles, Ky., died Wednesday, June 5 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born in Hazard, she was the daughter of the late Earl Louis Choate Collins and Margaret Baker Collins. A homemaker, she was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church and a former member of Versailles Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She presently attended Southland Christian Church. She had a keen interest in history and genealogy and was a member of the Frankfort Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a former 4-H leader in Woodford County.
Survivors include her husband, James R. “Jim” Jackson, Sr.; sons David A. McGohon of Versailles, Mark McGohon of Georgetown, and Robert E. McGohon of Tampa, Florida; daughter Nancy C. Shelman of Lexington; stepsons Jimmy Jackson of Versailles, Keith Jackson of Lancaster, and Kevin Jackson of Dothan, Alabama; brother Dr. Bill Collins of Lexington; and 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 10 at the Duell Clark Funeral Chapel of Versailles, with Brother Rick Ralston officiating. Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
