VICCO — A gas station manager in Perry County was met with a surprise when she came to work Thursday morning to find the business had been burglarized.

Rachel Warren, manager of Ramey’s Qwik Stop in Vicco, said she came to work this morning at around 3:45 a.m. to open the store and found the glass in the front door had been busted.

“They’d thrown a piece of a block, a concrete block through the door,” Warren said.

Warren said the store’s alarm system is sound activated, so when the glass was busted it had sounded but unfortunately didn’t scare the intruders away. The burglars took the cash register, which had around $50 in change because the register is emptied of all bills every night, and a few packs of cigarettes.

“They wasted their time and energy, and I hope they go to jail,” she said.

Warren said she called the state police, who responded to the scene very quickly.

“This morning when I heard the alarm I peeked around the back of my car and saw the glass. I just got back in my car and locked the door and called 911, and the state police did really good,” she said. “They got here 12 minutes after I called them. That’s really awesome.”

Warren said there are no suspects as far as she knows so far, however, there may be a lead to finding the perpetrators.

“We’re looking into the cameras as we speak. We have them on video, that’s all I’m going to say,” she said. “I just hope they (police) catch them.”
