The Hazard-Perry all-stars stepped on the field on Thursday needing a single win to advance to the state tournament. They had little trouble disposing of North Laurel as they blasted them 20-3 in their second meeting, sending them to the state finals.

Hazard-Perry opened the game with a three-run rally. Austin Johnson picked up a triple to start the game. Johnson would then score on an error (RBI to Eric Hubbard). Hubbard and Mikey Neace (1B) would each score via the error (3-0).

In the second inning, Hazard-Perry would explode for 12 runs. All nine players would score before North Laurel would record a single out (seven singles). Eric Hubbard, Mickey Neace, and Chuckie Sandlin each scored twice in the inning (15-0).

North Laurel would pick up all their runs (three) in the third inning. They could do little but wait patiently for the end as Hazard-Perry continued to roll down the stretch.

Hazard-Perry closed out their scoring with five runs in the third inning. Chuckie Sandlin, Evan Whitaker and Mikey Neace each had singles in the frame, while Sandlin and Neace also had a RBI. Conner Hurt concluded Hazard-Perry’s offense show with a RBI, bringing Neace to the plate.

Hazard-Perry went on to win the game by the final count of 20-3, and advanced to the state tournament.
