The Hazard Lady Bulldogs and the Perry County Central Lady Commodores hooked up in the opening round of the 32 district soccer tournament. Since the two teams did not meet in the regular season, the outcome was anyone’s guess at kickoff.

The two teams struggled back-and-forth for most of the first half. Midway through Perry Central caught a break, and got a goal. Freshman Ashley Morris connected from close range for the Lady Commodores, giving them the 1-0 lead.

With only seconds remaining in the first half, Hazard got a good look at the goal. Senior Sabrina Tom broke down the sideline and took on the Perry Central goalie one-on-one, and came away with the tying goal.

Neither team would revisit the net in the second half, forcing an overtime period to settle the matter. Midway through the overtime, the Lady Bulldogs’ Sabrina Tom collected her second goal of the game. It would be enough to ensure the victory for the Lady
