He was the son of the late Paul Bowen and the late Anna Back Bowen. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Nelissa Bowen.
He is survived by his son, Jody Bowen and wife Katrina; sisters Josephine Stamper, Pauline Dixon, and Edith Shackelford; brother Donald Bowen; special uncle Gene Back; grandchildren Kristin Bowen and Jerrin Bowen along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Arrangements were handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard where the family received friends on Friday, November 6. The funeral service was at the chapel on Saturday, November 7 with Rev. A.D. Pete McGee officiating. Interment was at Cornett Cemetery located at Leatherwood.
