Woman killed while crossing road in Leslie County

STINNETT A Mt. Sterling woman was killed Wednesday when she was apparently struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross an intersection in the Stinnett community of Leslie County, police say.
Emergency responders received a call reporting the accident at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday night. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities with the Kentucky State Police determined that 48-year-old Pennie Rogers was hit by a vehicle being driven by Roger Bowling, of Stinnett, as Rogers attempted to the cross the road at the intersection of Highway 406 and 421.
Police say Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene by the Leslie County Coroners Office and Bowling was transported to the Mary Breckindridge Hospital via a private vehicle where he was treated and released.
No charges have been filed at this time, and authorities are continuing the investigation.
