On Thursday, the Perry County Central Lady Commodores hosted the Leslie County Lady Eagles in the second game of the district series. The Lady Commodores were trying to put the finishing touches on a sweep of the season series as they won the opener 78-63.

Both teams got off to a slow start, and struggled to put points on the board. The Lady Eagles got the better of the fight, holding a 9-7 lead at the horn.

The pace picked up slightly in the second period, but the Lady Commodores could not wrestle control of the tempo away from Leslie County. At the break, Perry Central still trailed 21-17.

The constant pressure by the Lady Commodores began to pay dividends in the third period as the Lady Eagles began to succumb. A few minutes into the quarter, Perry Central had erased the deficit, and seconds later they had taken the lead. Going into the fourth quarter, the Lady Commodores held a 41-32 lead.

Leslie County made several runs at Perry Central in the fourth quarter, but each time they got close, the Lady Commodores picked up a crucial bucket to squash the rally. Perry Central was able to hit their free throws down the stretch, collecting the 62-51 win, and the sweep of the season series.
